Glittery, Spiky Balls!

That title got your attention, huh? This is kiddie craft week, folks, come on!
I’m super excited about the project I'm sitting down to work on. Last weekend, Brett and I were out raking the front yard. We have a tree out front that drops tons of terrible spiky balls all over the yard – it never seems to run out and I endlessly trip all over them on the driveway (especially if I'm wearing heels). Pitching some of these little monsters into a trash bin, I flashed back to a winter holiday years ago when my aunt Michelle (always a crafty inspiration) helped my cousins and me collect some of these same balls from my grandparents’ yard and make ornaments out of them. We dipped them in glue and glitter. I don’t remember whether we strung them up or just piled them into a bowl -- but I sure remember how fun it was.

Raking the yard, I wondered how long it had been since I’d even worked with Elmer’s glue and glitter. Too long, I decided! So I’m now sitting down to make some lovely and purposeless little ornaments, Auntie Chelle-style. Turns out I don't have any liquid glue (amazing!) so I'm going the Mod Podge route. Results to come!

  1. I'm glad those evil things are finally coming to some use. And I like that Jamie snuck in the background...
