Inspiration: Beautiful Losers

Beautiful Losers is a gorgeous documentary about art in the early 2000s. It includes interviews with Shepard Fairey, Harmony Korine, Margaret Kilgallen, Barry McGee, and a bunch of other amazing artists. Most of the focus is on DIY and street art -- it makes a great companion piece to Exit Through the Gift Shop if you've seen that recently.

If you don't recognize the artists' names I've mentioned here or the ton of names listed on IMDb, so much the better -- watch the flick! If the interviews aren't your thing, the art will still be completely inspiring. It shocked me into action, made me get off my butt! You won't be disappointed. (And it's on Instant if you have Netflix!)

  2. I'd recommend watching it on mute, just for the art, with your own awesome soundtrack.
